Art Director, Data Visualization (Contract) $100/hr (w2) 6 months 40hrs a week Mo-Fri Hybrid in Culver City or Cupertino Graphic Designer mindset, working within code-driven, generative design. Focus on abstract art through code, with a strong editorial foundation. What you’ll do Design data visualizations, infographics, and editorial graphicsIdeate and concept at the intersection of data, design, and codeCreate work that translates complex data into human, resonant storiesCollaborate closely with engineers, speaking their language and working in code dailyPrototype and experiment with generative and interactive outputsWhat we’re looking for Strong portfolio in data viz, infographics, and editorial designExperience with generative/code-based work (Processing, D3, similar; Claude is a plus)Not an engineer, but comfortable coding and working in dev environmentsBackground in agency or editorial environments preferredWork that balances analytical rigor with human expressionNice to have Motion, interaction, or experiential design (museums, installations)Tools like D3, Figma, illustration, or interactive systemsInterest in code + theory, experimental or immersive designKey traits Concept-driven thinkerClear visual storytellerCurious, collaborative, and hands-on with code
