About this role

Job summary FASTSIGNS is hiring a creative graphic designer to help customers turn rough ideas into strong visual communication. This role is different from a purely production-focused design seat. We already have team members who are strong at preparing files, managing production details, and moving work through the shop. This position is intended to add more creative strength to the team: better concepts, stronger layouts, cleaner branding, more polished customer presentations, and more visually compelling signs, graphics, wraps, displays, and environmental graphics. The right person has strong design taste, understands how to communicate visually, and can still work within the realities of deadlines, materials, fabrication, installation, budgets, and customer revisions. What you'll do You will design signs, graphics, and visual communication solutions for businesses, organizations, events, and commercial spaces. Projects may include storefront signs, wall graphics, window graphics, vehicle graphics, banners, dimensional signs, wayfinding, trade show displays, interior branding, and other custom signage. Your work will include Creating original design concepts based on customer goals, brand standards, site conditions, and project requirements Turning rough ideas, notes, sketches, photos, or customer-provided artwork into professional layouts and proofs Developing visually strong sign and graphics concepts that are both attractive and realistic to produce Preparing customer presentations, mockups, and design proofs that help customers understand the finished result Collaborating with sales, project management, production, and installation teams to make sure designs can be built correctly Reviewing logos, artwork, files, dimensions, colors, materials, and installation considerations before production Balancing creativity with speed, accuracy, and real-world production constraints Helping improve the overall visual quality and professionalism of our customer-facing design work What success look like A strong designer in this role will: Make our customer proofs look more polished and intentional Improve the creative quality of signs, wraps, wall graphics, and branded spaces Reduce back-and-forth by asking good questions and thinking through the design before sending proofs Create concepts that customers get excited about and salespeople can confidently present Understand that good design is not just decoration — it should help the customer communicate clearly and look professional Work well with production-focused teammates without creating designs that are impossible, inefficient, or unnecessarily expensive to build What we're looking for We are looking for someone with a strong eye for layout, typography, color, spacing, branding, and visual hierarchy. Tools & Experience Proficient in Adobe Illustrator (required) Preferred, But Not Required Experience in the sign industry Experience with large-format print design Experience designing vehicle graphics, wall graphics, window graphics, or dimensional signage Familiarity with print-ready file setup Experience working with brand standards Experience creating customer mockups or presentation proofs This may be a good fit if you Enjoy creating visually compelling designs, not just moving files through a queue Can take vague customer input and turn it into a clean, professional concept Have good design judgment and can explain why a layout works Are comfortable receiving feedback and making revisions without taking it personally Can balance creativity with deadlines and business realities Want your work to be seen in the real world on buildings, vehicles, offices, events, and commercial spaces Like working with a team where sales, design, production, and installation all have to work together This is probably not the right fit if you Only want to do logo design, illustration, or brand identity work with no production constraints Do not enjoy customer revisions or deadline-driven work Prefer open-ended creative projects with no budget, material, or installation limits Are uncomfortable working in a fast-moving small business environment Do not want your designs judged by whether they can actually be produced and installed Pay: From $20.00 per hour Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Employee discount Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Professional development assistance Vision insurance Application Question(s): Provide a brief note on why this role fits your experience and goals.
